The Nighthawk Energy Storage Project is located in Poway at the corner of Paine Street and Kirkham Way, allowing close access to the Sycamore Canyon Substation and transmission system.
The main project components are the battery storage containers, which include racks of batteries, control units, fire prevention and fire protection equipment, voltage transformers and inverters, and an on-site substation. The containers typically range from 10 to 25 feet long, 6 to 8 feet deep, and 6 to 10 feet high. The project team has worked closely with the City of Poway to ensure that the project construction is compliant with all applicable codes and standards.
